Dr. Wayne A. Rose (Ras Wayne) is a native of Kingston, Jamaica and Baltimore, Maryland. He holds a Ph.D. in African Diaspora History, with additional specializations in Early American and African American History from Morgan State University. He also holds an Undergraduate degree in Africana Studies and a Master of Arts in History from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC).Dr. Ras Wayne is also a Notary Public in Baltimore County.
He is the current Chairman of the Universal Development of Ras Tafari Inc. (IDOR), an African-centered organization that focuses on the teachings and life examples of Emperor Haile Selassie I. He works as a Cultural Expert and Ras Tafari Resource/Chaplain with the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS), and works closely with indigenous communities in Ethiopia, Jamaica, the USA, Kenya and Ghana.
He specializes in African Diaspora History, African American Studies, and 20th Century American History. He also lectures on American popular culture and Afro-Caribbean spirituality.His teaching institutions include Jackson State University, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
In his previous work experiences Ras Wayne was the founder and president of Rose Healthcare Staffing Agency, a Maryland-based nursing and healthcare staffing company, which he operated from 1996 to 2014. He also worked as an auditor for KPMG Peat Marwick, Jamaica.
